JPG, PNG and PDF: Which File Format Should You Use?

Different file formats serve different purposes. JPG is useful for photos and small web images, but it may lose quality when compressed many times. PNG is useful for logos or graphics that need a transparent background. PDF is usually best for printing documents because it keeps the layout, fonts and page size more stable. When sending a design for printing, PDF is often recommended. For logos, keep a high-quality PNG and a vector file where possible.
